Last year my friend Jon (from PTO/Color Wheels) told me he had been in touch with our long-lost college buddy Tim, who was now drumming for a band called Moutheater in Virginia. He said it was pretty heavy and that I’d like it… turns out he was right. The band has a real grungy hardcore sound that totally rips. Big riffs, roomy production, dry shouted/screamed vocals and not a hint of anything trendy or pretentious. If you’re into Unsane, Tad, Helmet, The Melvins, or the heavier tracks from In Utero, definitely check this out. Their new full-length Ornament should be out this Summer from Thrashed! Records, followed by some tours in April and June. The track below is from their Lot Lizard 7-inch, recorded by Steve Albini last year.
